Legend of the
Amethyst:
From the
Greek word meaning "without drunkeness. They beleived the Amethyst would
protect one from excess of drink. Goblets were inlaid with Amethyst in the
belief that this would prevent intoxication.
Amethysts are generally
worn to make the wearer have an air of gentleness and amiability. Similarly,
amethysts are still commonly believed to hold powers over dreams, peace,
healing, love, courage, spiritual uplifting, and a general overall happiness.
